  POSTER STAMPS OF THE BUGRA

There are two primary poster stamps for the Bugra: Prometheus on a Gryphon, and this one, a simple text-only hexagon.

HEXAGON

The hexagon stamp is a simple, text-only design, in German only. There are at least five versions, plus varieties of each:

1. Original version - "AUSTELLUNG" - bicolor - NOTE MISSPELLING: "AUSTELLUNG":
- a. Artist's Proof or Competition entry - top row - on white paper, black overprint, "P.SCHNEIDER - LEIPZIG 1912" showing through, gold text on top - 35.5 mm wide - ONE COPY SEEN, EXTREMELY RARE,
- b. Orange paper, Black overprint, no printer's name - essay? 2nd row, left - 35.5 mm wide - RARE
- c. Orange paper, Black overprint, P.SCH. in bottom right margin - essay? 2nd row, right - 36.5 mm wide - RARE
2. The generic advertising version - "AUSSTELLUNG" (bicolor - 3rd row, left) - P.SCH. in bottom right margin. This is the most common version, with yellowish paper, text color underprinted, background color on top - 38 to 39 mm wide,
3. A generic Exhibitor version (als Aussteller - bicolor - 3rd row, right),
4. Tricolor Exhibitor (Aussteller - third row below)
5. Tricolor with specific exhibitors' names around the border (bottom two rows below).

The first version is rare to extremely rare - how the misspelling slipped through is a mystery. I have seen this in just the one color combination.

I have seen about sixteen different ink combinations of versions 2 & 3. The paper is yellowish. All have the letters "P.SCH." along the bottom right edge. They are relatively plentiful.

The fourth type is scarce, and the fifth is scarce to rare.
